Hi Arran,

II just purchased a Pen EF and am not sure whether the meter is working at all or properly. I shot a roll of film and the photos all came out. Most of the pictures looked properly exposed but a few like one of my cat standing in shadow turned out underexposed (I'm thinking the Selenium meter's not as foolproof as some of the newer meters)?

The instruction manual refers to an underexposure shutter lock and says the viewfinder turns red if the picture will be underexposed. On this camera the shutter does not lock, even in insufficient lighting, and the viewfinder frame never glows red, regardless of the how low the available light is.

So I'm wondering whether my meter is working at all, since these the underexposure safeguards are not or if it's possible for the camera to get many of the exposures right without the benefit of a functioning Selenium meter?

Thank you very much for any answers you can offer. I've searched the internet for more info on the camera but there's not a lot out there.
