Well well.. Things have been interesting lately.
At the end of last year my hard drive eventually died on me after giving me many signs i decided to ignore. Last week i finally got around to buying a new 500gb hdd (they’re so much cheaper than they used to be its insane). Plugged it up to my computer and reinstalled the OS etc. Everything worked great, except for the fact that the last 2 years of my work and photos were still on the old hdd.
No problem, i’ll just get an external hdd case. Got one today, hooked everything up. Sweet looks like its working, now lets just copy the old files to my new hdd…
“Error Performing Inpage Operation”
Ok great… Now i cant access the file son my old hdd, and it’s telling me its 100% free..
At this time i started to freak out a little bit. I thought as long as i didnt set my old hdd on fire, or surround it in huge electro magnets the files would be intact.. Right? I better be right..
Did a bit of searching around and found a few people who have had the same problem. Luckily i found the magic fix which included entering the command “chkdsk e: /r”. Two hours later i had my old hdd back up and running! Go me…
I started bringing over my old music, video, and work files etc.. Along with all the useful stuff i managed to bring along some wonderful trojan viruses too.. Dont ask me how, but they’re there, and have been driving me crazy trying to pin them down and delete them. I think i’ve finally got ontop of it all now which is a relief.. Hopefully i can get back to doing something constructive..
Whilst looking through all my older files i found quite alot of photos i’d forgotten about and a fair bit of work i had started but never finished.. I’m pretty happy i found it all again so now i can finish some things off that i would never of gotten around to.
Below is an example of what i found. It’s an old assignment and was one of the first things we had to draw in illustrator. I never got it finished, but would like to see it completed now. Its nothing amazing, but i was quite proud of it when i did it. Was a good exercise in using the pen tool and a few simple gradients.

Oh, i also am trying out a new photo lab this week. I have 2 rolls of film with them getting developed. Im a bit worried how they’ll turn out actually, i dont feel so confident with this place, but they’re only a 2 minute walk from my house.. Fingers crossed.
